With a month to go before its release, « The Husband »continues to unveil its plot. KBS2 has released new images from Namgoong Min in his role as Kang Tae-joo, the hero of this romantic thriller that promises to be particularly intense.
Scheduled to go on air on July 4, The drama follows a man who will do anything to find his wife after she is kidnapped, even as their marriage draws to a close.
A neurosurgeon whose life changes overnight
In «The Husband», Namgoong Min performs Kang Tae-joo, a brilliant neurosurgeon turned hospital director We Are Together Hospital.
Despite an exemplary career, his personal life was in crisis. After a long period of marital tension, he finally decided to divorce his wife. Go Se-yoon (Lee Seol). But the day after this decision, everything changes.
His wife suddenly disappears after being kidnapped, plunging Kang Tae-joo into a race against time where every minute counts. The new photos released by KBS show both the respected doctor he is on a daily basis and the man who will gradually lose all his bearings as he desperately tries to save the woman he was about to leave.
A deeply human character, according to Namgoong Min
The actor also shared his thoughts on the project. «When I first read the script, I was impressed by its pace and immersive power. The story goes far beyond a simple crime thriller. It explores in depth a couple's emotions, their relationship as well as the choices one is led to make in extreme situations.»
Namgoong Min explains that it was above all the strength of the story that convinced him to accept the role. «I was drawn to the power of the drama itself rather than the character alone.»
Regarding Kang Tae-joo, he adds: «He's a character who constantly wavers and sometimes collapses, but who never gives up until the end. I found him very human.»
A less-than-perfect hero
One of the aspects that particularly appealed to the actor was the character's psychological complexity. «Kang Tae-joo's appeal lies in the fact that he seems perfect, but he never really is.»
In the course of his investigation to find his wife, the doctor is confronted with his own failings. «As he plunges into danger to save his wife, he is forced to confront weaknesses and emotions he had long avoided. The more events unfold, the more he is shaken and transformed.»
A psychological duel with Kim Dae-myung
Opposite Namgoong Min, Kim Dae-myung will play Noh Man-hee, the man responsible for kidnapping Go Se-yoon. The series promises a particularly tense psychological confrontation between the two characters, while Lee Sang-hee will complete the main cast in a still mysterious role.
The series will start airing on July 4, 2026 on KBS2 and on Disney+.
