The drama " The Husband »begins to unveil its universe ahead of its July broadcast. KBS2 has just revealed the very first poster for the thriller starring Namgoong Min, offering a glimpse of the intense descent into hell that awaits his character.
Expected to be one of the great Korean thrillers of the summer, the drama will feature a man desperate to find his wife after a kidnapping that turns his life upside down in just a few hours.
A man whose life changes in an instant
Namgoong Min plays Kang Tae-joo, a former neurosurgeon turned hospital director. At first glance, he seems to have made a success of his life. However, his marriage to Go Se-yoon, played by Lee Seol, is in deep crisis. Just as the couple are about to divorce, something dramatic happens: Se-yoon suddenly disappears.
The official synopsis reveals that Kang Tae-joo will find himself embroiled in a merciless battle against a particularly dangerous criminal in order to reunite with his wife.
The first poster, just unveiled, perfectly illustrates this starting point. It shows Kang Tae-joo in a suit, telephone to his ear, looking lost and visibly in shock. A simple conversation seems to have turned his life upside down.
A mysterious fire in the background
The other eye-catching feature is the huge blaze visible behind him. What does this fire represent? Is it linked to Go Se-yoon's disappearance? Is it a clue to the kidnapper?
For the time being, KBS is deliberately keeping things under wraps. The slogan on the poster, however, sets the tone: «The day after we talked about divorce, my wife was kidnapped.»
A sentence that sums up the tragedy of the main character, torn between guilt, regret and determination.
Namgoong Min returns in a highly anticipated thriller
With this project, Namgoong Min returns to a genre he has mastered particularly well. Over the years, the actor has established himself as one of the best-known names on the small screen, thanks to series such as «Hot Stove League», «Doctor Prisoner» and «My Dearest».
This time, he abandons historical romances to return to a darker, tenser register where action and suspense should take center stage.
The project also marks the return of weekend mini-series on KBS2 after several months' absence, further raising expectations for the drama.
Alongside Namgoong Min, several well-known actors will reinforce the plot. Kim Dae-myung will play the role of No Man-hee, a local computer academy director.
Lee Sang-hee will play Kim Kyung-ae, a mysterious woman who appears before Go Se-yoon in a particularly delicate situation.
The Husband debuts on July 4 at 9:20pm on KBS2 and Disney+.
