Song Joong-ki to return to KBS with “Love Cloud” after 10 years

Song Joong-ki is set to return to Korean TV channel KBS for the first time since the huge success of «Descendants of the Sun» in 2016. According to Korean media reports, the new romantic drama “Love Cloud”, in which the actor will co-star with Park Ji-hyun, has officially been granted a broadcast on KBS2.

The series is due to be scheduled as a weekend drama in the first half of 2027, after “King Munmu”, one of the channel's next major projects.

A romance between pilots on Jeju Island

“Love Cloud” will tell the story of Kang Woo-joo, a former flight instructor, and Ahn Ha-neul, a former pilot-in-training.

Seven years after their separation, the 2 characters will meet again on Jeju Island, in a place where “even love becomes weather”. He now works as an air traffic controller, while she has become a pilot. The drama is presented as a comic romance combining emotions, reunion and a warm atmosphere around the world of aviation.

Song Min-yeop will direct, while the Mad Rabbit team will write the screenplay.

A symbolic return for Song Joong-ki

This return to KBS is attracting particular attention from fans, as Song Joong-ki hasn't appeared in a KBS drama since Descendants of the Sun.

At the time, the drama was a veritable phenomenon in South Korea and throughout Asia, with audiences topping 38 % and a huge following for Yoo Si-jin's character.

Since then, the actor has had a string of major successes such as Vincenzo and Reborn Rich, but has never returned to KBS. In addition to Park Ji-hyun, actors Lee Shi-woo and Choi Hee-jin are also said to be in talks to join the cast.
