A new, more mature and realistic romance is coming in 2027. Jeong Kyeong-ho, Jeon Yeo-been, Choi Dae-hoon and Kang Mal-geum have officially been confirmed for the drama “Unshakable Forties’ Romance”.
The series will tell the story of a man and a woman in their forties who, despite their supposedly “temptation-proof” ages, find themselves irresistibly drawn to each other.
A romance in the world of media
Jung Kyung-ho will play Na Yi-jun, a famous star news anchor. A brilliant former student who became the youngest news anchor in his station's history, he sees his career falter when he is taken off the main newscast and sent to work on a program with disastrous ratings.
It's here that he meets Seo Hae-yoon, played by Jeon Yeo-been, a TV scriptwriter desperate to boost ratings. Accustomed to scandals, sensationalist stories and professional difficulties, Seo Hae-yoon leads a particularly chaotic life when Na Yi-jun enters her daily routine.
The drama promises an adult romance mixing arguments, attraction and emotional reconstruction.
A more realistic and melancholy second couple
The project will also feature a second duo performed by Choi Dae-hoon and Kang Mal-geum.
Choi Dae-hoon will play Ji Han-soo, a reporter who once dreamed of becoming a presenter, but whose pronunciation problems shattered his ambitions. Wounded by his first marriage, he still believes in love.
Kang Mal-geum will play the role of Heo Mi-eun, a more experienced scriptwriter who prefers loyal men with handsome faces.
A mature romance unlike the classic romcoms
With its media-centric setting, characters marked by failure, and themes of loneliness, aging and second chances, “Unshakable Forties’ Romance” promises a more mature approach to Korean romance.
The production team already spoke of a “perfect chemistry” between the actors after the first reading of the script.
The drama is scheduled for release in the first half of 2027.
