The historical drama “Sacred Jewel”The first official images are now available, showcasing the characters at the heart of this ambitious adventure.
The story takes place in 1258, at the end of the Goryeo era, when the kingdom has been weakened by decades of war with the Mongols. Against this tense backdrop, a special unit is sent on a mission to recover a sacred relic, the Avalokitesvara Bead, reputed to protect the nation.
Between political stakes, war and spiritual quest, the drama promises an intense fresco carried by several key figures.
Five characters bound by destiny
Ahn Bo-hyun plays Baek Gyeol, commander of a special unit charged with recovering the relic. A former member of the royal guard, he finds himself sent on this perilous mission after falling in love with the emperor's daughter. Behind his apparent mastery, his eyes reveal complex emotions, between determination and sensitivity.

Facing him, Lee Sung-min plays Choi Gu, leader of an elite, battle-hardened unit. Marked by combat and losses, he is appointed to lead the expedition alongside Baek Gyeol. His experience contrasts with that of his partner, bringing a tougher, more pragmatic dimension to their duo.

Claudia Kim plays Princess Wang Hee, a central figure whose past has had a profound effect on her personality. After enduring political and personal hardship, she has closed in on herself. Yet her encounter with Baek Gyeol could rekindle long-buried emotions.

Ha Yun-kyung lends her features to Geol Seung, a tavern keeper on the island of Ganghwa. Hired as a guide, she brings a freer, more unpredictable energy to the expedition, contrasting with the seriousness of the mission.

Finally, Yoon Kyun-sang plays Wang Mu, a military commander and former love of the princess. Sidelined by power struggles, he remains marked by a past he has never fully overcome, and finds himself once again embroiled in her destiny.

With its cast of cross-cutting characters, “Sacred Jewel” promises to be a drama combining action, emotion and historical stakes.
The series is due to air on JTBC in the second half of the year.
