The Netflix series “The WONDERfools”continues to unveil its universe with a new series of images focusing on its main characters and the unexpected events that turn their daily lives upside down.
Set in 1999, in the midst of end-of-the-world scares, the series follows a number of misfits who suddenly acquire superpowers and find themselves unwillingly involved in increasingly dangerous situations.
Uncontrollable powers in the face of a mysterious threat
The new images showcase the characters' strange and unpredictable abilities.
Eun Chae-ni, played by Park Eun-bin, One image shows her in the middle of a snow-covered mountain, visibly lost after the sudden activation of her teleportation power. Another image shows her literally thrown into the air, revealing the chaos caused by her abilities.

For his part, Lee Un-jeong, played by Cha Eun-woo, appears covered in sweat after a restless awakening, adding to the mystery surrounding this seemingly ordinary civil servant.

The drama's more comic tone is also reflected in the situations experienced by the other characters. Son Gyeong-hun, played by Choi Dae-hoon, appears literally glued to the ceiling with a panicked look on his face, unable to understand or control this strange adhesive ability. This scene accentuates the series' offbeat tone, with the character seemingly totally overwhelmed by a power as ridiculous as it is uncontrollable.

Conversely, Kang Ro-bin, played by Im Seong-jae, possesses impressive physical strength. Yet, despite this spectacular power, he retains his clumsy, shy temperament. One image shows him throwing a punch with a hesitant, insecure posture, creating an amusing contrast between his self-effacing personality and his superhuman power. The drama clearly seems to play on this opposition to add an extra touch of humor.

The new images also introduce Kim Jeon-bok, played by Kim Hae-sook. Sitting behind the counter at Keunson's restaurant, counting stacks of bills, she exudes a particularly imposing presence. Before she was simply Chae-ni's grandmother, she was known as “King Jeon Bok”, an influential figure in Myeongdong's private lending scene. The character is expected to play an important role in the story, particularly through her fierce determination to protect her granddaughter.

Finally, images linked to the Wunderkinder project reinforce the drama's more mysterious dimension. Ha Won-do, played by Son Hyun-joo, appears in an underground laboratory linked to research into superpowers. At his side are several characters who seem to be working closely with him: Seok Joo-ran (Jung Yi-seo), Seok Ho-ran (Choi Yoon-ji) and Kim Pal-ho (Bae Na-ra).

The series will be available in its entirety on Netflix on May 15.
