The next KBS2 drama « The Husband »continues to unveil its cast ahead of its July 4 broadcast. This time, the channel has revealed the first images of Park Byung-eun, who will be making a special appearance in the series.
Supported by Namkoong Min, directed by Lee Seol, Kim Dae-myung and Lee Sang-hee, «The Husband» tells the story of Kang Tae-joo, a man who embarks on a desperate battle against a ruthless criminal after his wife is kidnapped just after they decide to divorce.
A former policeman at the heart of the investigation
Park Byung-eun plays Lee Soo-hyung, a former homicide detective turned director of a private investigation agency.
As the story unfolds, he becomes involved in Kang Tae-joo's case and will play an important role in the mystery surrounding Go Se-yoon's disappearance. The production also hints that his character is hiding a secret or an unexpected twist that could influence the course of the plot.
The first images unveiled show an experienced and determined man, whose past seems closely linked to the events shaking the present.
A character torn between past and present
Park Byung-eun confided that he had thought long and hard before accepting this special appearance. «When I received the proposal, I asked myself whether I would be able to properly express the emotions and situation of Lee Soo-hyung's character.»
The actor explains that he was finally convinced by the quality of the script. «As I read on, I was completely absorbed by the strength of the script and felt the urge to give my best for this character.»
He also reveals that Lee Soo-hyung will appear in different periods of his life. «As Soo-hyung moves between the past and the present, different make-up was used to distinguish these two eras. This really helped me express his emotions.»
A thriller that continues to unfold
After the successive presentations of the characters played by Namkoong Min, Lee Seol and Kim Dae-myung, this new revelation confirms that «The Husband» will focus on a complex story where several characters have their own secrets.
The drama promises a mix of suspense, psychological thriller and emotional drama around an investigation that could have many twists and turns.
«The Husband» will be broadcast from July 4, 2026 on KBS2 and Disney+.
