At first glance, Noh Man-hee seems like the ideal neighbor. Director of a computer academy, polite, helpful and well-liked by the locals, he inspires confidence in children and the elderly alike.

But behind this reassuring façade lies a much darker secret. The new images unveiled by KBS highlight the contrast between his calm appearance and the threat he really represents.

A complex villain rather than a simple criminal

Kim Dae-myung explained that he was immediately seduced by the script. «When I received the script, I read it in one sitting. I was totally absorbed by the story and constantly wanted to know what was going to happen next.»

The actor also revealed that he didn't want to play Noh Man-hee as a simple villain. «I wanted to play a character with many facets. Noh Man-hee is not someone you can easily define. I hoped that viewers would constantly ask themselves, “Who is this person really?”»

To make the character more believable, he sought to understand the deeper motivations that led Man-hee to act in this way, rather than seeing him solely as a criminal.

A gradual transformation over the course of the drama

The actor also paid particular attention to his character's appearance. «I wanted him to look like a perfectly ordinary person you might come across every day. That's why I often wore shirts buttoned up to the collar.»

He adds that Noh Man-hee's psychological evolution will also be visible through subtle changes in his appearance over the course of the episodes.

After the first images of Namkoong Min as a husband ready to do anything to find his wife, these new shots confirm that «The Husband» will focus as much on psychological tension as on the confrontation between its two main characters.

The drama also marks the return of Kim Dae-myung in a particularly dark role, quite different from the warm-hearted characters he has often accustomed viewers to. This opposition between Noh Man-hee's flawless public image and his true nature should be one of the series' most intriguing elements.

«The Husband» will air from July 4, 2026 on KBS2 and Disney+.
