Netflix has officially announced the release date for « The East Palace«, one of the most anticipated Korean dramas of summer 2026. The platform also unveiled an intriguing first poster featuring Nam Joo-hyuk in a world filled with ghosts, supernatural mysteries, and royal secrets.
A cursed palace at the heart of the plot
«The East Palace» will follow the story of Gu Cheon (Nam Joo-hyuk), a man who can travel between the world of the living and the spirit world. Alongside Saeng-gang (Roh Yoon-seo), a lady-in-waiting with the ability to hear ghosts, he is summoned by the king to investigate the mysteries surrounding a palace plagued by a curse.
Together, they must uncover the truth behind the supernatural events threatening the kingdom.
The drama is directed by Choi Jung-gyu, known for his work on «The Devil Judge» and «Children of Nobody.» The screenplay is written by Kwon So-ra and Seo Jae-won, the duo behind the series «Bulgasal: Immortal Souls» and «The Guest,» two productions known for their fantastical worlds and dark atmospheres.
A mysterious first poster
The poster unveiled by Netflix shows Gu Cheon wading through a murky pond, tethered to a rope and carrying peach branches on his back. The reddish hue surrounding the scene heightens the sense of danger and mystery.
The slogan on the poster, «Beyond the boundaries of the real world into the realm of spirits,» offers a first glimpse of the supernatural journey that awaits the characters.

Nam Joo-hyuk's highly anticipated return
After making a lasting impression on viewers with «Start-Up,» «Twenty Five, Twenty One,» and more recently «Vigilante,» Nam Joo-hyuk returns in a brand-new fantasy role. Opposite him, Roh Yoon-seo, who rose to prominence in «20th Century Girl» and «Crash Course in Romance,» will play a court lady capable of communicating with the dead.
The cast is rounded out by Cho Seung-woo, who will play the king behind this perilous mission.
«The East Palace» will be available on Netflix on July 17.
