Netflix has unveiled the main trailer and new poster for « Notes from the Last Row« his next psychological thriller starring Choi Min-sik and Choi Hyun-wook.

Adapted from the famous Spanish play by Juan Mayorga, the series will be available worldwide from June 26.

An unconventional teacher-student relationship

«Notes from the Last Row» follows Heo Mun-oh (Choi Min-sik), a failed writer turned professor of Korean literature, who hasn't published a work in 20 years. His life is turned upside down when he discovers the exceptional talent of Lee Kang (Choi Hyun-wook), a quiet student who always sits in the last row of his lecture hall.

Fascinated by the young man's writing, Heo Mun-oh offers him private writing lessons. But what begins as a simple mentor-pupil relationship soon takes a much more worrying turn.

A poster full of mystery

The new poster features the two characters amid huge shelves of books.

While Heo Mun-oh looks lost and troubled, Lee Kang displays an almost unsettling calm. The contrast between their expressions suggests that the young student may hold much more power than he appears.

The poster slogan, «The end of the story gets distorted», This is a plot in which the boundaries between reality, fiction and manipulation seem destined to disappear.

An obsession that turns into a nightmare

The trailer opens with Heo Mun-oh, deeply disturbed after reading one of Lee Kang's texts.

When the teacher says it's just imagination, the student replies, «It's not imagination. I simply reconstructed the facts.»

Little by little, Lee Kang began to observe the lives of real people to feed his stories. In particular, he breaks into a fellow student's house and transforms the events he observes into literary material.

Despite his teacher's warnings, he continues his experiments, claiming that he is only interested in discovering the truth.

Increasingly disturbing events

As the images unfold, the atmosphere becomes darker and darker. A mysterious car accident, the pursuit of an unknown individual, fires and increasingly obsessive behavior: everything suggests that the private lessons are about to trigger a series of uncontrollable events.

At the same time, Heo Mun-oh himself seems to be sinking into an unhealthy fascination with his pupil and his writings.

Who is really manipulating whom?

One of the central questions raised by the trailer concerns Lee Kang's true nature. While the teacher initially seems to exert a natural authority over his student, several scenes gradually suggest the opposite.

Lee Kang's enigmatic smile in the final seconds of the teaser suggests that he could be the one really pulling the strings.
