JTBC's next drama « We Are All Trying Here »continues to unveil its characters with new images featuring Kang Mal-geum alongside Koo Kyo-hwan and Oh Jung-se.
The series follows Hwang Dong-man, played by Koo Kyo-hwan, a man convinced that he's the only one around him who doesn't make it in life. Surrounded by accomplished friends, he becomes overwhelmed by frustration, envy and self-doubt, before embarking on a personal quest to regain a sense of balance.
A producer with a strong character
Kang Mal-geum plays Go Hye-jin, a producer and production company director renowned for her analytical skills and outspokenness.
With her lucid outlook and decisive temperament, she doesn't hesitate to tell it like it is. Yet behind this straightforward attitude lies a sincere affection for the people around her and for the world of cinema.
She also runs an informal meeting place for the film community, a haven where former university classmates working in the industry regularly gather.
Between two men in crisis
The relationship between Go Hye-jin, Hwang Dong-man and Park Kyung-se (Oh Jung-se) promises to be one of the series' central elements.
Faced with the long tirades of Dong-man, an aspiring director for 20 years, she shows remarkable patience. But when he crosses the line, she doesn't hesitate to deny him access to their meeting place.
The situation is even more delicate with her husband, Park Kyung-se, once a successful film director but now plagued by an inferiority complex following the failure of a film project. Although she is sometimes harsh with him, in reality her cutting remarks come from genuine concern, as she refuses to see him go under.
The new images show Go Hye-jin displaying the calm and authority of an experienced leader, able to maintain the balance between the two men despite their doubts and frustrations.
The production team praised the actress's performance, explaining that Kang Mal-geum's unique acting brought out the human dimension of the character.
The drama «We Are All Trying Here» will air from April 18 at 10:40pm (KST) on JTBC and be available on Netflix in the wake.
