The drama “Fifties Professionals”continues to unveil its characters with new images focusing on Heo Sung-tae, who plays a man with an eventful past.
This action-comedy follows three once-powerful men, now forced to live in the shadows on the island of Yeongseon, where they try to make sense of the events that turned their lives upside down ten years earlier.
Among them, Kang Beom-ryong stood out with a spectacular fall.
A double life between violent past and ordinary everyday life
Heo Sung-tae portrays Kang Beom-ryong, an influential former member of a feared gang. Once considered a major figure in his organization, he was known for his imposing presence and brutal temperament, earning him a fearsome reputation.
But after a failed mission involving a mysterious object and the incarceration of his former superior, his life is turned upside down. He now runs a struggling convenience store, living a life far removed from his criminal past.
The new images highlight this contrast. In his gangster days, Kang Beom-ryong exudes an intense, wild aura. By contrast, in the present, he adopts a more composed attitude, striving to be a helpful shopkeeper, even when dealing with difficult customers.
Despite the difficulties, he keeps a smile on his face and tries to adapt to this new reality. His efforts to lead an ordinary life, while remaining marked by his past, bring both a comic and melancholy dimension to the character.
The drama will air from May 22 at 9:50pm (Korean time) on MBC (awaiting an international platform).
