Park Ji-hoon's next drama, « The Legend of Kitchen Soldier »scheduled for broadcast from May 11 in Korea, is already attracting international attention even before it airs. The series was invited to a special out-of-competition screening at Series Mania 2026., to be held in Lille, France, from March 20 to 27.
Notably, this is the only Korean content selected in this section this year. Festival representatives praised the project's creativity and the lead actor's performance.
A soldier like no other
Adapted from a popular web novel and webtoon, the series takes the form of a military comedy centered on Kang Sung-jae (Park Ji-hoon). Initially considered an excellent recruit during training, he quickly falls down the hierarchy and becomes a problem soldier.
Guided by a mysterious voice, he finally agrees to be transferred to the kitchen unit. He then swaps rifle and ammunition for knife and apron, embarking on an unexpected quest that will lead him to near-legendary status.
First glimpses before the broadcast
To celebrate the invitation to the festival, TVING unveiled several images showing Kang Sung-jae in his new life as a military cook, between humor and daily challenges.
With its quirky tone and original universe, «The Legend of Kitchen Soldier» promises to be a series unlike any other in the military drama landscape. It is scheduled to air in May 2026.
