Sooyoung in talks for new drama from “Crash Course in Romance” screenwriter”

Sooyoung could soon be making a comeback in a new Korean drama. On May 18, her agency Saram Entertainment confirmed that the actress had received an offer to join the cast of “I Went to School”(literal title), a forthcoming 50-episode KBS2 weekend drama.

According to the agency, Sooyoung «is »examining the offer favorably", without however officially confirming its participation for the time being.

The project is already attracting attention, as it is the new drama written by Yang Hee-seung, the screenwriter behind such popular hits as «Crash Course in Romance», «Oh My Ghost» and «Weightlifting Fairy Kim Bok-joo».

A story of new beginnings

“I Went to School” will tell the story of a middle-aged woman whose life is turned upside down after she decides to enroll in college much later than planned.

As yet, few details have been revealed about Sooyoung's proposed character. However, several actors are also said to be in talks to join the cast, including Lee Jung-eun and Yu Jun-sang.

The drama will be directed by Lee Woong-hee, known for directing «My Perfect Stranger» and «The First Night with the Duke». If Sooyoung accepts, this will be his 2nd drama scheduled for 2027 after «Not Others» season 2, the 2 standouts returned to the screen after his last successful drama, « I DOL I« which goes on air at the end of 2025.

Broadcast scheduled for 2027

With a screenwriter renowned for her dramas mixing emotion, humor and engaging characters, this new KBS project is already arousing the curiosity of K-drama fans.

“I Went to School” is currently scheduled for broadcast in 2027 on KBS2.
