A drama about ordinary men united by baseball
“Sunning Baseball Club” will follow married men in their 30s and 40s trying as best they can to participate in amateur baseball leagues despite their family responsibilities and sometimes chaotic daily lives.
The drama is expected to mix comedy, emotion and camaraderie, showing how these men build strong bonds through their shared passion for sport. Oh Jung-se has reportedly been offered the lead role.
New project from the director of “New Recruit”
The project is also attracting attention as it will be directed by Min Jin-ki, the director behind New Recruit as well as “Holmes Salon”. The screenplay will be written by Yoon Ki-young, who previously collaborated with the director on “New Recruit 3” and “New Recruit 4”.
After the upcoming broadcast of New Recruit 4 this year, production of “Sunning Baseball Club” should be fully underway, with a target release date of 2027.
A role that seems perfectly suited to Oh Jung-se
Renowned for his ability to switch easily between drama and comedy, Oh Jung-se has become one of Korea's most popular secondary actors thanks to standout performances in «It's Okay to Not Be Okay», «Hot Stove League», «Mr. Plankton» and most recently as the villain in «Good Boy». He will also be on screen in May 2026 in « Fifties Professionals" .
The warm, human tone of “Sunning Baseball Club” thus seems particularly suited to his acting style, often able to convey both humor and emotion in the same scene.
