SBS is set to launch a dark, emotionally charged action drama with « Manager Kim« supported by So Ji-sub, Choi Dae-hoon and Yoon Kyung-ho. The 3 of them play former elite agents who have put their weapons away to lead ordinary lives... until the day the past catches up with them.
Presented at the revelation of SBS's 2026 programming, Manager Kim adapts a popular webtoon and promises a tense mix of action, darkness and fatherhood put to the test.
Ordinary fathers with dangerous secrets
So Ji-sub plays the title role of Kim, a discreet employee of a small savings bank. On the surface, an unremarkable man. In reality, he's a blacklisted former North Korean special agent whose very existence must remain a secret. When his daughter disappears, Kim has no choice but to resurrect skills he'd sworn to keep buried forever, even if it means losing everything.
At his side, Choi Dae-hoon plays Sung Han-soo, a former Olympic taekwondo champion who now runs a modest neighborhood dojang. Behind his accessible smile, however, lies a secret agent past, carefully concealed since his retirement from the field.
Yoon Kyung-ho completes the trio as Park Jin-chul, once considered an uncontrollable force on the battlefield. Today, he defines himself by a single title: «Da-bin's father». A simple pride that stands in stark contrast to the legend he left behind.
When the past resurfaces
The first image unveiled shows the 3 men sitting in a local restaurant, sharing a drink like any other family man. Simple suits, taekwondo outfits, casual military jackets: each of them leads an ordinary life. Yet their tense gazes, turned in the same direction, suggest that a threat has just emerged.
Manager Kim explores the brutal shift from the mundane to extreme violence, when men who had chosen anonymity are forced to become what they once were. More than a simple action drama, the series questions the price of silence, family protection and irreversible choices.
