Netflix unveils its next Korean creation, Genie, Make a Wishwith a new teaser as intriguing as it is promising. In this bold fantasy drama, Kim Woo-bin plays Genie, a thousand-year-old spirit as seductive as he is fearsome, who awakens from his long sleep to grant three wishes... at his own peril. Opposite him, Suzy plays Ka Young, a cold, unfeeling young woman who is entrusted with the famous magic lamp.

But where others would marvel, Ka Young remains unmoved. Promises of wealth, happiness or love don't seem to move her. Irritated by the genie's incessant chatter and attempts at manipulation, she presents him with an unexpected challenge: a series of deadly bets, each one trying to prove his or her vision of the world. For Genie, all humans eventually give in to corruption. For Ka Young, it's a matter of proving the contrary, even if it means losing his life.
From contempt to passion: an unpredictable relationship
Tension mounts between them, oscillating between confrontation and seduction. Initially enemies, they eventually give in to an irrepressible attraction. The teaser reveals an intense scene in which the 2 protagonists exchange a searing kiss, before engaging in a dance that defies time and space, suggesting that their relationship transcends the boundaries of reality.
But there's more to the story than their psychological duel. A key character makes an appearance: Soo Hyun, played by Noh Sang-hyun, an angel of death who watches over Ka Young. For 1,000 years, he too had been waiting to see Genie again. Their confrontation foreshadows revelations about a shared past, and the impact that wishes could have on the balance of the world.
A series of temptation, drama and emotion
The mystery deepens when other holders of the lamp enter the scene, each with wishes that could interfere with Ka Young and Genie's destiny. How far will these wishes take them? Can you really resist temptation when everything seems possible?
Scripted by the talented Kim Eun-sook (Goblin, The Glory, Mr. Sunshine), Genie, Make a Wish promises a philosophical, romantic and dramatic adventure. Through the wishes of the various characters, the series questions human failings and moral dilemmas. One thing's for sure: this new fantasy romance will leave no one indifferent.
The date is set: Genie, Make a Wish will be available on Netflix from October 3.
