The new romantic drama « Empathy Cells » unveiled a sneak preview of its script reading, bringing together the creative team and the entire main cast.
This new romantic comedy blends emotion, humor and a touch of fantasy in an original story centered on the involuntary sharing of emotions.
A romance built around a mysterious phenomenon
«Empathy Cells» tells the story of 2 people who are at odds with each other. On the one hand, a woman who refuses all forms of empathy and prefers to keep her distance from others. On the other, a man who, on the contrary, feels the emotions of those around him particularly intensely.
Their lives are turned upside down when an inexplicable phenomenon leads them to share each other's emotions. This experience gradually leads them to understand each other better, to evolve and to question their vision of the world.
Kim Myung-soo as a popular psychologist
Kim Myung-soo (L d'INFINITE) plays Cha Eun-hwan, a well-known specialist in psychological counseling.
During the script reading, the actor presented a character who is both warm and caring, while revealing deeper emotional wounds hidden behind his apparent serenity.This role should enable Kim Myung-soo to show a new facet of his acting in a register blending emotion and romance.
Opposite him, Kang Min-ah will play the role of Yoo Ji-an, a former girl-group member turned actress.
The character stands out for her apparent lack of empathy, which could easily make her cold in the eyes of others. However, the actress is able to bring many nuances to Yoo Ji-an, revealing a character more complex than she appears.
The relationship between Yoo Ji-an and Cha Eun-hwan will form the heart of the drama.
A promising secondary cast
The series will also feature Kwon So-hyun as Han Yi-jin, Cha Min-ji as Cha Song-hwan, Shin Woo-gyeom as Dong Gyeong, Kang Pil-joon as Do Hoon, Kim Da-hye as Hyun Ji.
The cast is completed by Ok Yoon-joong, Jang Sung-won, Kim Yi-hyun and Park Chae-won.
Broadcast in July
With its original concept based on emotional sharing, «Empathy Cells» hopes to appeal to fans of fantasy romances and romantic comedies.
The drama will start airing on July 4, 2026 at 10:50 p.m. (Korean time), and will also be available on Disney+ (we're using the conditional tense, as this platform has yet to be confirmed internationally).
