A cult novel between past and present
Emblematic work by the Japanese writer Higashino Keigo, The Miracles of the Namiya General Store is an international bestseller renowned for its sensitive, deeply human storytelling. The novel tells the story of three thieves who find refuge in an old abandoned store, the Namiya convenience store.
This singular place mysteriously links past and present. Answering letters from people seeking advice, the 3 men find themselves confronted with a series of almost miraculous connections, which end up intertwining with their own destinies. Between regrets, life choices and hope, the story explores the power of words to heal and transform lives.
A promising cast in the making
The Korean adaptation is currently in the pre-production phase and is expected to run for around 10 episodes. Lee Chae-min is said to be in talks to play the male lead, while Moon Sang-min would consider a special appearance.
If she accepts the project, Kim Hye-yoon will be joining an emotionally-charged work with a choral, introspective narrative. The actress is currently starring in the drama No Tail to Tell on SBS and is already preparing several upcoming projects, including the films Salmokji (working title) and Land, and the drama Good Partner 2.
This adaptation is already raising expectations, both among readers of the original novel and fans of sensitive, contemplative dramas.
