SBS made a big impact during the 2025 SBS Drama Awards by unveiling a special teaser for « Doctor X: Age of the White Mafia«Adapted from the famous Japanese series Doctor X, this new medical drama promises to be an intense medical noir, carried by Kim Ji-won in a role radically different from her previous heroines.
An outsider surgeon in a corrupt hospital
Kim Ji-won plays Gye Soo-jung, a brilliant surgeon sent by a temporary medical staffing agency, sadly nicknamed the «mad dog of the operating room." ". In a hospital world dominated by money, networks, and power games, Soo-jung believes in only one thing: pure competence.
The teaser shows her making a dramatic entrance at Guseo University Hospital, an institution riddled with corruption. Rejecting the traditional symbol of medical authority, she leaves her white coat in the locker room and appears dressed in a black leather coat. Faced with a rigid hierarchy, she bluntly declares: «I oppose it.» " A simple sentence, but enough to shake the established order.
A lone heroine in the era of the “white mafia”
In the operating room, Soo-jung quickly imposes her rules: precision, composure, and a total lack of compromise. She obeys neither titles nor networks, only her talent. A figure of dark hero medical then begins to emerge.
The teaser is reinforced by the solemn narration of Lee Jung-eun, which sums up the essence of the drama:

Alongside Kim Ji-won, the cast features a lineup of strong performers: Lee Jung-eun as the greedy director of the medical agency, Son Hyun-joo as a hospital director at the heart of the system, and Kim Woo-seok privileged insider from the elite. Together, they create a battlefield where saving lives becomes an act of resistance.
Part medical thriller, part institutional critique, and part portrait of a woman ready to defy anything, Doctor X: Age of the White Mafia promises to be one of SBS's most ambitious projects.
The drama will be broadcast in October 2026 on SBS, in the Friday–Saturday box.
