The « Yumi's Cells »TVING has just unveiled a highly-anticipated first teaser for the upcoming 3rd season. The new video marks the return of Kim Go-eun in the role of Yumi, the heroine whose emotions are told through the tiny cells that populate her brain.
Adapted from the popular webtoon of the same name, the drama follows the daily life of an ordinary office worker. Her thoughts, feelings and decisions are interpreted by a multitude of cells, each representing an aspect of her personality. This original concept contributed to the success of the first 2 seasons.
An accomplished Yumi... but emotionally empty
In this new teaser, Yumi has changed a lot. Now best-selling author, She seems to have found her way professionally. But something is missing in her life.
The teaser shows that the cell village, once lively and full of life, has become strangely quiet and deserted. Since the end of her last relationship, Yumi no longer feels the strong emotions that once punctuated her life.
She admits it herself with a certain sadness: «Nothing really gets to me anymore. The problem is that I don't have any problems.» Her daily life is peaceful, but it also seems monotonous and devoid of excitement.
The arrival of a new love
The situation begins to change, however, when a new man appears on the scene. Yumi's encounter with Soon-rok, an editorial director played by Kim Jae-won, immediately causes a stir in the cell village.
His heart starts beating faster again and his Love Cell, long asleep, opens its eyes again.
But after a long period without a relationship, Yumi realizes that she has lost the habit of falling in love. A little unsettled, she humorously asks herself, «Remind me again how people start dating? It's been so long since I've felt like this... that feeling where my heart gets all soft and tender.»
With this teaser, Season 3 promises a new exploration of Yumi's emotions, between hesitation, nostalgia and the possibility of new love.
Yumi's Cells 3 will be broadcast April 13 at 6pm (Korean time) on TVING (and probably on Viki, which already has the first 2 seasons on its platform).
