July 21, The Defects hits screens. Adapted from a successful webtoon, this action thriller tells the story of children abandoned by their adoptive parents who, driven by a fierce desire to survive, will risk everything to demand justice and truth.

In this drama, Yum Jung-ah plays Kim Se-hee, a respectable figure at the head of a major hospital and charitable foundation, but who hides a sinister double life: she secretly runs a network of illegal adoptionsconvinced that only "good genes" deserve to live. Opposite her, Won Jin-ah as Kim Ah-hyunAh Hyun, a young woman returned from the dead after being rejected by her adoptive family. Miraculously alive, Ah Hyun becomes the driving force behind a group of broken children whom she guides like a big sister, ready to do anything to protect her "new family" and uncover terrifying truths.

For Won Jin-ah, this project is doubly special. Firstly, because it marks her first foray into the action genre (a long-held dream), but also because of the poignant, human message it conveys. "More than the quest for a grand design, it's the story of children trying to rediscover hope in humanity".confides the actress.
To play Ah Hyun is to embody responsibility, perseverance and courage. 3 words that Won Jin-ah remembers to describe this character who never gives up, even in the face of the worst obstacles. "His determination to protect the youngest and face a frightening enemy really touched me," she explains.

If the shooting was intense, the atmosphere on the set exuded complicity. Won Jin-ah has fond memories of her duet with Yum Jung-ah, light years ahead of her disturbing role. "She treated me like a caring big sister, always taking care of me. Outside scenes, we were always laughing."

While waiting for the first broadcast, Won Jin-ah invites the public to discover this drama where the actors, she the first, reveal new facets of their acting. The Defects will be broadcast from July 21 at 10pm (KST) on ENA.
