SBS is preparing a clash of the eras with « Wicked World«An explosive and unique drama, carried by Lim Ji-yeon and Heo Nam-joon. Revealed through a special teaser during the 2025 SBS Drama Awards, The project promises a romance on the edge of open conflict, between a tragic past and a brutal present.
A Joseon villainess faces her destiny... and modernity
The teaser opens with Kang Dan-sim (Lim Ji-yeon), a formidable figure of the Joseon era, accused of a crime deemed ’unforgivable.« Condemned to drink poison, she violently rejects the bowl and cries out:
«What exactly is my crime?!» A line that sums up the authority, rage, and power of a woman who was once at the top of the world.
Forced to ingest the poison, Dan-sim faces death... before suddenly opening her eyes in a completely different setting. We are in 2026, and she wakes up in the body of Shin Seo-ri, an unknown actress struggling to survive on film sets. The contrast is striking: from the terror of Joseon to the artificial lights of a historical drama, the former villain must now cope with a world she does not understand, and has no intention of enduring.
A romance like a battlefield
Opposite her stands Cha Se-gye (Heo Nam-jun), a chaebol heir known for his cruelty and nicknamed the «monster of capitalism.» His overwhelming aura seems untouchable at first... until Dan-sim, now embodied by Seo-ri, shatters his composure by attacking him with flowers in the middle of the street.
Taken by surprise, Se-gye retaliates, brandishing a red flower as a weapon. Their confrontation, branches and petals raised like blades, heralds a relationship in which attraction and war seem inseparable.
The tension rises further when Seo-ri's voice rings out: « I'll be there soon. So wait for me, Cha Se-gye. »The images then alternate between the past (Dan-sim nestled in someone's arms) and the present (Seo-ri leaning against Se-gye), suggesting an inevitable connection, woven by fate across time.
Between romance, revenge, and the collision of worlds, Wicked World promises to be an intense drama, carried by a heroine who refuses to submit, regardless of the era.
“Wicked World” is scheduled to air in May 2026 on SBS.
