Is the new Kdrama with Park Bo-Gum on Prime Video worth it? Our opinion after 2 episodes

table of content table of content

Good Boy is the highly anticipated JTBC / Prime Video kdrama of late May / early June 2025. And for good reason, its cast has already caused quite a stir (Park Bo-Gum, Kim So-Hyun, Lee Sang-Yi, Heo Sung-Tae, Oh Jung-Se are among those taking part).

The synopsis

"Olympic medalists join the police force as part of a special recruitment program. They trade in their medals for badges and tackle violent crime."

We've started watching Good Boy and it's not bad.

At the time of writing, only 2 episodes are available, and so far, we're hooked. I say we, because I'm watching it with my husband (and we don't necessarily have the same criteria for appreciating kdramas!). The pace sets up quickly, Park Bo-Gum is a little different from his previous Kdrama (another 2025 hit, When life gives you tangerine with IU), but he's still a "good boy" and his charm doesn't spoil the scenes. The humor is there, thanks in particular to Ko Man-sik (Heo Sang-tae), and the fight scenes so far are visually stunning, Kim So-hyun plays a somewhat mysterious policewoman for the time being, and we can't forget Lee Sang-Yi who, in addition to some fine action scenes, gives birth to the series' love triangle.

The story is original, and the "villain" played by Oh Jung-Se adds to our curiosity, making us look forward to the 3rd episode, scheduled for June 8.

Have you started watching? Are you hooked?
