The drama “We Are All Trying Here”reveals a little more with a new teaser focusing on its characters and their inner struggles. Carried by Koo Kyo-hwan, Go Youn-jung and Oh Jung-se, The series promises to be a sensitive exploration of malaise and feelings of failure.
The story follows Hwang Dong-man, a man who is convinced that he is the only unsuccessful person around him. Surrounded by friends who all seem accomplished, he finds himself overwhelmed by envy, frustration and self-doubt, until he embarks on a personal quest to find peace.
Characters confront their own emptiness
The teaser highlights characters who, despite their sometimes brilliant appearances, are all struggling with a profound sense of uselessness.
From the very first images, Dong-man poses a simple but striking question: «Why do we live such difficult lives, as if we were never going to disappear?»
Confronted by his brother, he emotionally confides: «I just don't want to feel anxious. As long as I don't feel anxious, that's enough for me.» It's a sentence that perfectly sums up the tone of the drama, which is more concerned with finding relief than with success.
Around him, the other characters also reveal their weaknesses. Byun Eun-ah, played by Go Youn-jung, expresses her malaise in a physical way: «When I feel abandoned, my whole body aches and I get nosebleeds.»
A realistic vision of success
Even those who seem to have made it are not spared. Park Kyung-se, a well-known director, struggles to overcome the shadow of his first success. In a moment of anger, he exclaims: «Is it only Hwang Dong-man who's pathetic? What about me?»
The drama thus highlights an often overlooked reality: behind appearances, everyone struggles in their own way with their own doubts.
Despite this, Hwang Dong-man refuses to let himself be defined by the standards imposed by society. His goal is not success, but simply to make a film, as a way of giving meaning to his life.
With this new teaser, “We Are All Trying Here” promises to be an introspective and deeply human drama.
The series will be broadcast from April 18 at 10:40pm (KST) on JTBC and Netflix.
