Villains: Yoo Ji-tae and Lee Min-jung finally return in a dark thriller after a 2-year wait

After a 2-year delay, the drama Villains finally has an official release date. The series, produced by TVING, will air on December 18, 2025with a top-flight cast led by Yoo Ji-tae and Lee Min-jung.

Originally scheduled for broadcast in 2023, Villains was postponed indefinitely following the DUI case involving one of the main cast members, Kwak Do-won. After a long period of uncertainty, the project is finally emerging from the shadows. A representative of TVING confirmed the news: "The original series Villains will be broadcast on December 18.

Asked whether the scenes of Kwak Do-won had been altered or cut, the representative added cautiously: "It's difficult to comment at this stage, in order to avoid any spoilers."

The drama is directed by Jin Hyeokwhose credits include Sisyphus: The Myth, The Legend of the Blue Sea and Master's Sun, while the screenplay is by Kim Hyung-joonknown for the film No Mercy (용서는 없다).

In addition to Yoo Ji-tae, Lee Min-jung and Kwak Do-wonThe cast also includes Lee Beom-soo, Kim Jae-yong and Ryu Ji-won. The series will comprise 8 episodes and will be available exclusively on TVING, with possible worldwide distribution on Disney+, as part of a partnership between the 2 platforms.

For Yoo Ji-taeVillains marks a long-awaited return after a 2-year absence, his last appearance being in Vigilante on Disney+. The actor will then follow up with another project, Attributes, scheduled for 2026 alongside Park Hee-soon and Ju Yeon from The Boyz.

As for Lee Min-jungVillains marks a major TV comeback after a 5-year absence. The actress had won over audiences in 2020 with the series Once Again, and she will also return in 2026 in the drama Okay, Let's Get a Divorce, alongside Kim Ji-suk.
