tvN has unveiled a new teaser for « Undercover Ms. Hong« , offering a more accurate glimpse of the character played by Park Shin-hye. Set in the late 1990s, the drama promises to be a smart office comedy, carried by a heroine who refuses to bow to the unfair rules of her time.
Changing your name, age... and social status
The teaser presents Hong Geum-bo, an elite financial investigator in her thirties, forced to erase her entire identity to carry out a secret mission. Formerly a key figure in the Financial Markets Supervisory Authority, she adopts a new life under the name Hong Jang-mi, a 20-year-old entry-level employee at a brokerage firm.
This transformation is not limited to appearances. From a woman respected and feared for her professionalism, Geum-bo becomes a discreet but brilliant young recruit, observing from within a system riddled with abuse and shady deals.
The teaser emphasizes the contrast between her two identities: charismatic and confident in her initial role, then falsely naive but always lucid in her cover.
A heroine who refuses injustice and challenges the system
Far from the stereotypical image of women in business at the end of the 20th century, Hong Geum-bo is not content to simply obey or remain silent. When faced with those who question her abilities, she responds bluntly: «Work is done through competence.»
When confronted with abusive or inappropriate behavior, she does not hesitate to firmly reprimand her colleagues, asserting her authority even from a subordinate position.
The teaser suggests that his infiltration will not only serve to reveal a specific case, but could well call into question the entire system, from social status to deeply entrenched mechanisms of corruption.
It remains to be seen how far Hong Geum-bo can go without her true identity being exposed—and what consequences this mission will have for her.
Undercover Ms. Hong will make its debut on January 17, 2026 on Netflix.
