Actor Uhm Tae-goo will next appear in the drama I Am a Sinner (working title), an adaptation of Lee Mugi's webtoon of the same name, published on Kakao Webtoon since 2022.
A dark whodunit set in 1980s Korea
The story is set in a lawless city of the 1980s, where money and crime dominate. We follow 2 men: Paengi, a demon who will do anything to achieve his goals, and Saengdak, a stubborn survivor who risks his life to embark on an illegal enterprise.
Uhm Tae-goo plays Saengdak, a tough, determined man forged by violence and misery. Starting from nothing, he climbs the ladder to become a gang leader, while maintaining unwavering loyalty to the woman he loves, to the point of risking his life for her.
A return to charisma and intensity
Revealed in The Age of Shadows, Taxi Driver and, more recently, Concrete Utopia, Um Tae-goo has established himself as a character actor with a raw, intense style. He also made his mark in the drama Save Me 2 with his poignant portrayal of Kim Min-chul, a man struggling with blind faith.
After winning over audiences in the romantic comedy The Woman Who Plays in 2024, I Am a Sinner marks Um Tae-goo's return to a darker, more charismatic register, reviving the powerful aura for which he is renowned.
