The 90s have never been so trendy. And thanks to Lee Junho and Kim Min-ha, they're about to come back to life with panache in tvN's new drama, Typhoon Family. Scheduled for release on October 11, this drama plunges us into the midst of the 1997 economic crisis, while resurrecting an era marked by its inimitable style and social resilience.

A troubled time, an unlikely hero
At the heart of the plot : Kang Tae-poong (played by Lee Junho), a young entrepreneur catapulted overnight to the head of a bankrupt company. With no employees, no capital, and no products to sell, he must face the storm of theeconomic collapse caused by the MFI crisiswhich shook up the whole of South Korean society at the time.
At his side, Oh Mi-seon (Kim Min-ha), a smart accountant with unrivalled flair, embodies common sense and quiet strength in the midst of chaos.
π Retro fashion: 1997 style back in style
What sets Typhoon Family apart right from the start is its an eye for sartorial detail. The drama doesn't just tell the story of an era, it brings it to life visually, through the iconic '90s outfits, faithfully revisited but always full of freshness.
Lee Junho plays a flamboyant Tae Poong, with black leather jackets, oversized shirts, exposed chains and electric blue bomber jackets. Wisps in his hair and a nonchalant look complete the image of a king of Apgujeong, a free and reckless figure of a youth who wanted to shine despite the crisis.

Kim Min-ha, for her part, offers a more subtle version of the 1997 aesthetic: twisted cardigans, plaid skirts, embroidered sweaters and Nordic motifs. His style reflects stability, gentleness and intelligence, a discreet yet assertive modernity in a world losing its bearings.

Visual and emotional immersion
The choice to focus on OOTD (Outfit Of The Day) of each character is not insignificant: according to the production team, the stylistic reconstruction of the period will add an extra dimension to the viewing pleasure. Between nostalgia and contemporary inspiration, some looks may even set new trends.
But beyond the clothes, Typhoon Family promises to be a human and touching drama, treating small victories in a context of great precariousness with emotion and humor.
Fashion, survival and emotion in the midst of economic turmoil. See you on October 11 at 9:20 p.m. (awaiting an international distributor, it had been announced Netflix, but to be reconfirmed) to discover this human fresco that smells of vintage... and inner strength.
