It's official: tvN's next weekend drama, Typhoon Familysupported by Lee Junho, will make its debut on October 11 at 9:20pm (KST). The channel also unveiled a new poster, full of nostalgia and celebrating the youthful spirit of the 1990s.
A story of survival at the heart of the 1997 Asian crisis
The plot follows Kang Tae-poong (played by Junho), a carefree, inexperienced young man who finds himself overnight at the head of a bankrupt family business, in the midst of the 1997 Asian financial crisis. With no employees, no money and no products to sell, he must brutally confront the realities of survival and learn to lead a life he's never known.

Born into a wealthy family thanks to his father, Tae Poong had enjoyed a comfortable, carefree and bright existence. But the wind shifted when the crisis hit: the son of a good family was thrown into a world where he now had to shoulder the responsibility for the company and the fate of those around him. His journey from carefree young man to forced, resilient leader promises to be a tale of transformation as poignant as it is inspiring.
A poster that captures the spirit of the '90s
The new poster, called "Romance of 1997", features Tae Poong leaning out of a car window, wearing a bold outfit and sporting a confident look. His style is reminiscent of vintage advertisements of the time, and illustrates the romanticized freedom of youth, just before the economic storm swept everything away.
According to the production team, the poster reflects both the deceptive glow of golden youth and the threat of an era of upheaval. "Tae Poong's struggle against this storm will offer a vivid mirror of the times while delivering a message of hope to those going through difficult times today," they said.
Typhoon Family will be broadcast from October 11 at 9:20 p.m. on tvN (awaiting an international broadcaster, Netflix had been announced).
