Calling all fans of K-dramas and fantasy tales: an ambitious new project is about to hit the web. Disney+ and KBS2. Named TwelveThis action-drama promises a breathtaking plunge into a universe combining oriental mythology, epic battles and a 5-star cast. The platform has confirmed that the series will be available from August 23 next.

The 12 animals of the zodiac at the heart of the plot
Twelve is directly inspired by 12 animals of the Asian zodiac. The scenario imagines 12 angels embodying these signs, living among humans to protect the Korean peninsula from evil spirits. Centuries earlier, these angels had succeeded in sealing off the forces of evil at the cost of great sacrifice. But now, the seal is cracking and darkness is reemerging, threatening to plunge the world back into chaos.
At the heart of this struggle, Ma Dong-seok plays Tae San, the charismatic leader of the angels, symbol of the tiger. True to his image as a protective colossus, the actor promises powerful action scenes in which he will have to rally his companions to counter the return of the demons.

At his side, Park Hyung-sik changes registers after Buried Hearts and plays Ogui, the raven. This time, the actor plays the side of evil, personifying the evil force liberated from the ancestral seal.
Another outstanding role: Seo In-guk lends his features to Won Seung, the cunning and ambitious monkey angel, ready to do anything to become the next leader.

Lee Joo-bin, she plays Mir, the dragon-angel whose powers have been sealed since an ancient battle.

Go Kyu Pil will be Don Yi, the angel-pig, a surprisingly agile medic in combat.

Kang Mi-na lends her fiery spirit to Gang Ji, the angel-dog, fast and protective of humans.

Added to this is Sung Yoo Bin as Jwi Dol, the quick-witted rat who plays an indispensable role in the activities of the 12 angels.

Ahn Ji-hye as Mal Sook, the fearsome angel-horse in her action scenes.

Regina Lei made her acting debut as Bang Wool, the traditional angel-snake doctor who heals humans using ancient medical techniques.

Finally, veteran actor Sung Dong-il plays the role of Ma Rok, a human endowed with exceptional powers and manager of the 12 angels, guarantor of the balance between their world and that of mortals.

With only 8 episodes, Twelve promises to be intense and ambitious. Between mystical confrontations and cultural heritage, the series should appeal to action fans as much as to those who like to discover new myths revisited. See you at the end of August (hopefully also internationally on Disney +) to find out whether the angels will once again be able to save mankind.
