The share giant Ma Dong-seok returns to the small screen in a role tailor-made for him: a fearsome angel, a vigilante and... a debt collector! The new fantastico-heroic drama Twelveinspired by the animals of the oriental zodiac, has unveiled a muscular first glimpse of its opening episode, scheduled for August 23.
The universe of the series is rooted in legend: 12 angels once sacrificed themselves to seal evil spirits at the gates of hell, offering the world a time of peace. But now, dark forces are awakening once again, and chaos threatens to break out.
In what promises to be a merciless battle, Tae San (Ma Dong-seok) leads the cast of the Twelve Angels of the Zodiac. In the teaser, he makes a dramatic entrance dressed in a tiger-print suit, introducing himself to an inmate with a relentless grin: "I'm from Angel Capital." Because in the human world, Tae San runs a very special lending company: he lends only... to criminals and thugs, and always gets back what's owed.
The scene reveals a tense face-to-face encounter with Jo Yang-soo (Shin Seung-hwan), a debtor in no hurry to pay off his debt. But Tae San cuts him short with a chilling retort: "In a hundred years in the business, I've never failed to get my money back." A warning that leaves his interlocutor stunned and sets the scene for an uncompromising hero. Later, he mysteriously contacts his ally Jwi Dol (Sung Yoo Bin) to order him: "Send the money for Jo Yang-soo." An enigmatic sentence that arouses even more curiosity about his methods.
Between mythology, nervous action and raw charisma, Twelve promises to be a drama where fantasy meets thriller, with Ma Dong Seok in his element: powerful, magnetic and uncompromising. Although it's scheduled to air on August 23 on Disney+ Korea, no details have been released for France (and Europe), so it looks as though it's unlikely to be legally broadcast here. We'll keep you posted on any last-minute surprises.
