MBC has unveiled a first glimpse of the family dynamics at the heart of its new drama « In Your Radiant Season« a sensitive series that explores rebuilding after trauma and the ties that bind (sometimes painfully) a broken family.
Supported by Lee Sung-kyung and Chae Jong-hyeop, The drama also highlights a strong female quartet, where each generation carries its own wounds and silences.
A family marked by loss
In Your Radiant Season tells the story of Sunwoo Chan, a man who lives every day like a summer vacation, and Song Ha-ran, a woman who has locked herself into a cold, winter-like existence. But beyond the romance, the series focuses on the Nana family.
At the center of the story are 3 sisters (Song Ha-ran, Song Ha-young and Song Ha-dam) raised by their grandmother Kim Nana after a tragedy shatters their home. Each tries to move forward in her own way, revealing what it means to carry on living after irreparable loss.
Kim Nana, played by Lee Mi-sook, is a first-generation fashion designer and the head of Nana Atelier. An industry icon, she is known for her unyielding perfectionism. Behind this cold façade, however, lies an overwhelming responsibility: to protect her three granddaughters after losing her own child. Unable to express her tenderness in kind words, she imposes strict rules and constant discipline.
3 sisters, 3 ways to survive
The eldest of her siblings, Song Ha-ran, played by Lee Sung-kyung, has learned to suppress her emotions by taking refuge in her work. Under pressure from her grandmother, she became head designer at Nana Atelier, but leads a locked life, keeping her distance to avoid further injury.
The youngest, Song Ha-young, played by Han Ji-hyeon, is a junior designer on the creative team. Smiling, spontaneous and full of energy, she brings a welcome light to a house full of things left unsaid. Yet behind her apparent optimism, she hides deep scars.
The youngest daughter, Song Ha-dam, played by Oh Ye-ju, Her mother is a role model in the eyes of her grandmother, and a source of affection for her sisters. A role model in her grandmother's eyes and a source of affection for her sisters, she refuses to be seen as a child to be pitied. Her first rebellion becomes the trigger that shatters the fragile balance of the Nana family.
In Your Radiant Season will be broadcast from February 20 at 9:50pm (KST) on MBC.
