The Netflix drama « The WONDERfools »remains on course. While there were rumours of a possible postponement due to the controversies surrounding Cha Eun-woo, the platform has officially clarified the situation: the project is still scheduled for release in the second quarter.
On February 11, media outlets reported internal discussions about a schedule adjustment. However, Netflix quickly responded to put an end to the speculation.
Netflix clarifies schedule
According to some reports, the date of May 15 has been set, and a press conference with the cast is planned for around May 12 and 13. But Netflix is more cautious.
A representative of the platform said: « The WONDERfools is currently scheduled for release in the second quarter, and as yet no changes have been made to the release schedule.»
The spokesperson also clarified, «There are no changes at this stage, and the exact release date has not yet been finalized.»
With over 3 months to go before the premiere, details such as the press conference have yet to be confirmed.
A highly anticipated action-comedy
Supported by Park Eun-bin and Cha Eun-woo, The WONDERfools is set in 1999, on the eve of a millennium tinged with apocalyptic fears. The story follows a group of awkward small-town residents who suddenly acquire superpowers and find themselves defending Haeseong City against unexpected threats.
The project is attracting particular attention as it marks the reunion of Park Eun-bin and the director Yoo In-sik, already behind the success Extraordinary Attorney Woo. The cast also includes Choi Dae-hoon, Kim Hae-sook and Son Hyun-joo.
A mix of late-90s nostalgia, humor and superheroic adventure, The WONDERfools is shaping up to be one of Netflix's most eagerly awaited projects this year.
