Promotion of the forthcoming JTBC kdrama The Nice guy / The good man starring Lee Dong-wook is gathering pace! Broadcast from July 18, The Nice Guy tells the story of Park Seok-cheol (performed by Lee Dong Wook), the eldest grandson of a three-generation gangster family. Despite his origins, his main concern is to protect those he loves.
Facing him, Lee Sung-kyung embodies Kang Mi-yeongis a young woman who dreams of becoming a singer. Faced with a difficult reality and crippling stage fright, she never gives up on her goal. Her life is turned upside down when she crosses paths with Park Seok-cheol, a decisive moment that could change everything.
Despite a life punctuated by numerous odd jobs to support her ailing mother and keep her head above water, Kang Mi-yeong has never given up on her dream. Her determination and courage could well make her much more than just an aspiring singer.
In a recent interview, Lee Sung-kyung spoke movingly of his character in The Nice Guy. It describes Kang Mi-yeong as "a strong woman who always keeps smiling despite a life full of hardships". A role she approached with deep sincerity: "I wanted to play Kang Mi Yeong in the hope that viewers would support this young woman who fights courageously every day."
Lee Sung-kyung spared no effort in bringing this heroine to life. She explains that Kang Mi-yeongwho devotes her life to supporting her ailing mother, the dream of becoming a singer is "a gift she gives to herself". In order to perform the musical scenes to the best of her ability, the actress underwent rigorous training: "I worked hard on the piano pieces and songs composed by the musical director. I put my heart and soul into the recordings and performances of every song Kang Mi Yeong sings in the drama."
