Disney+ unveils its first-ever original Korean historical series. Entitled The Murky Streamwill be available from September 26 (not yet confirmed in France) and promises a dark, breathtaking fresco set in a Joseon country wracked by corruption.
A quest for dignity in a corrupt world
At the heart of the plot are characters with intertwined destinies, each driven by the same desire: to break an unjust system and regain a dignified life. The setting is the Gyeong River, once pure, now a "troubled stream", symbolizing the moral collapse of the kingdom.
In the lead role, Ro Woon embodies If Yula man marked by a painful past who dreams of cleansing his world of corruption and regaining his honor. By his side, Shin Ye-eun play Choi Euna determined young woman who refuses to give up in the face of adversity, even when the business she wants to embrace turns out to be undermined by the law of the strongest. Last but not least, Park Seo-ham lends his features to Jeong Cheona fearless man who throws himself into danger in the name of justice.

A trailer for an intense story
The trailer reveals the origins of Si Yul, a simple worker at the port of Mapo, who is manipulated by Mu Deok and unwillingly drawn into the workings of a gang. It also highlights the power of corrupt officials, who extort money from merchants under the cover of local mafias.
We also meet Choi Eun, who aspires to become a merchant but comes up against a brutal, unscrupulous world. As ambitions grow in the shadows, the deep voice of Dae Ho (Choi Won Young) warns: "If you go in without a plan, you'll be swept away. You have to be ready to take a life. Do you think you have the strength?"
The trailer concludes with some striking images: Choi Eun pursued by an invisible enemy, Wang Hae (Kim Dong Won) shrouded in mystery, and a showdown to the death between Si Yul and Jeong Cheon, leaving unbearable suspense hanging in the air.
With its trio of charismatic lead actors and a story that blends the struggle for justice, power struggles and the quest for identity, The Murky Stream has already established itself as one of the most eagerly awaited sageuk of the fall season.
Broadcast from September 26, exclusively on Disney+ (we hope in France).
