It's going to be a busy autumn for sageuk fans. Disney+ has just unveiled the official poster for The Murky Streama historical drama that plunges viewers into the chaos of the Joseon era.
A dark Joseon, where everything has to be rebuilt
The story takes place at a time when the once-clear Gyeong River has become a turbid stream, symbolizing a kingdom riven by corruption and injustice. At the heart of this society in perdition, three young people with contrasting destinies unite to change the course of history.
- Si Yool (Rowoon), a vagabond with a deep-rooted past who became an outlaw to survive.
- Choi Eun (Shin Ye-eun), the youngest daughter of a powerful merchant, guided by her wisdom and keen sense of justice.
- Jeong Cheon (Park Seo-ham), a young man driven by the ambition to become an incorruptible civil servant.
"Let's make this world our own
The newly-revealed poster captures the essence of the trio: determined looks, searing intensity, and this striking phrase inscribed in the background "Let's make this world our own." Rather than submit to a cruel fate, the 3 heroes choose to confront the powerful of Joseon to build a new, fairer society.
This project marks an important milestone for all those involved: Rowoon will reveal a darker, more rebellious side, a far cry from his previous roles. Shin Ye-eun will play the role of a daring heroine, ready to risk her life to defend her ideals. Park Seo-hamwill be taking his first steps in an action-historical role, eagerly awaited by his fans.
