Disney+ continues to expand its historic catalog with a dark and intense new drama: The Murky Streamdue on September 26. Brought to you by Ro Woon, Shin Ye-eun and Park Seo-ham, the drama transports us to a Joseon where the once limpid Gyeong River is now a murky stream, symbolizing a society riddled with corruption and the law of the strongest.

Different dreams in a lawless world
At the heart of the plot, characters with intertwined destinies dream of overthrowing a corrupt system and regaining their dignity. The first shots unveiled show the 3 main figures:
- If Yul (Ro Woon), a former worker whose secret past Mu Deok discovers leads him to become a thug. Revolted by the injustice of walpae (gangs of outlaws), he comes to understand that even they are out to survive.
- Choi Eun (Shin Ye -eun), a merchant determined to run her guild fairly, despite constant pressure from the walpae who want to control the region. His confrontation with Si Yul, now enrolled in this violent world, looks inevitable.
- Jeong Cheon (Park Seo-ham), a high-ranking civil servant with a mysterious connection to Si Yul. Their looks of pain and Jeong Cheon's menacing blade herald a turning point in their relationship.
At their side, Mu Deok (Park Ji-hwan), a gang leader in search of recognition, tries to take advantage of Si Yul to strengthen his fragile position among the other outlaws.

Between survival, loyalty and betrayal
The images reveal an oppressive atmosphere, dominated by grime, violence and the unspoken. Each character carries his or her own burden: to survive, protect, assert themselves or atone for a past. The meeting of these trajectories promises unstable alliances, inevitable betrayals and confrontations as political as they are personal.

A historical K-drama with raw realism
A cross between traditional sageuk and social drama, The Murky Stream seems intent on exploring the gray areas of humanity. There are no idealized heroes here, but rather individuals tossed about by a world in decline, who are nevertheless trying to find a piece of the light.

With its release scheduled for September 26 exclusively on Disney+.The drama is already arousing the curiosity of fans of historical series and complex human stories.
