A brutal arrest, a fatal spiral

In The Manipulated, Ji Chang-wook plays Tae Joong, an ordinary man whose life is turned upside down overnight when he is falsely accused of a heinous crime. New photos released show his sudden arrest, triggering incomprehension and anger. Behind the frame-up lies Yo Han (Doh Kyung-soo), a cold, methodical mastermind whose icy stare at a broken statue hints at the darkness of his intentions.

But Tae Joong has no intention of remaining a victim. His empty gaze in a church, in front of a crucifix, hints at the beginning of an inner journey. It's here that he meets Noh Yong-shik (Kim Jong-soo), a discreet but wise man who will become a guide in the brutal world of prison.

Chess on a grand scale

Outside, the pieces of the puzzle fall into place. Jo Yoon-soo takes on the role of Noh Eun-bi, Yong-shik's feisty daughter, who we discover on a motorcycle, full of determination. Her unexpected bond with Tae Joong could well change the course of the game. In the shadows, another troubled player: Do Kyung (Lee Kwang-soo), Yo Han's influential client, whose glass of whisky conceals limitless power.
