Disney+ has just unveiled the first images from The Manipulated, its new original series Ji Chang-wookand the contrast is striking. The drama depicts the descent into hell of an ordinary man, unjustly imprisoned for a crime he didn't commit, and his transformation into a vigilante obsessed with revenge.

A broken destiny, an inevitable revenge
Ji Chang-wook plays Park Tae-joongis a quiet, hard-working young man whose dream is to open a garden café in the city. His peaceful life is turned upside down the day he is falsely accused of an atrocious crime. Behind this machination lies Yo Han (performed by Do Kyung-soo), the man who pulled the strings of his misfortune.

Deprived of his freedom, betrayed and broken, Tae-joong discovers that his imprisonment was no accident, but the result of a cleverly orchestrated plot. Determined to regain control of his life, he sets out for revenge, whatever the cost.
Ji Chang-wook, more intense than ever
Newly released photos show two opposite sides of the character: before prison, a simple, smiling man, living with hope; afterwards, a hard look, filled with anger and pain. This duality promises an inhabited performance, in which Ji Chang-wook explores the fragility and rage of a broken man.

The actor confided: "Tae-joong is a character who pursues only one thing: revenge. I wanted to show, step by step, how suffering transforms him into someone stronger and more resolute."
The director Park Shin-woo (It's Okay to Not Be Okay, Lovestruck in the City) praised the actor's performance: "Ji Chang-wook has infused this role with a rare intensity and sincerity. He's becoming a genre of his own."

Scheduled for November 5 on Disney+, The Manipulated will be launched with four episodesfollowed by two new episodes every weekfor a total of 12 episodes. A psychological and emotional thriller that promises to be one of the most memorable roles of Ji Chang-wook's career.
