Netflix has confirmed the release date of its new drama « The Art of Sarah » by unveiling its first teasers, immediately noticed for their dark and intriguing atmosphere. The series brings together Shin Hae-sun and Lee Joon-hyuk, who are meeting for the first time in nine years, after Stranger in 2017.
The Art of Sarah tells the story of Sarah Kim, a woman willing to do anything to become a luxury icon, even if it means fabricating an idealized identity. Opposite her is Mu Gyeong, a man determined to uncover her ambitions and understand who she really is. A psychological confrontation where truth and illusion intertwine dangerously.
Two lives, one identity... or almost
The recently unveiled poster sets the tone: the lifeless body of a woman, her face concealed by a bag, lies in a pool of blood. Beside her, detective Park Mu Gyeong observes the scene. In the background, the blurred silhouette of Sarah Kim and a notebook full of writings raise many questions about the bond between these characters and the events that led to this tragedy.

The teaser further deepens the mystery by multiplying Sarah Kim's faces. When a body with a crushed face is found in the sewers, Mu Gyeong is put in charge of the investigation. Examining a tattoo on the victim's ankle, he discovers a disturbing truth: the dead woman is Sarah Kim. But there's one disturbing detail: «There is no record of anyone named Sarah Kim». From then on, the detective embarks on an all-out hunt for a woman who seems never to have existed.
The images alternate between two opposing realities. On the one hand, Sarah Kim leads a lavish life, surrounded by luxury goods and privilege. On the other, she appears exhausted, wearing worn-out clothes, working tirelessly and even eating leftovers left by customers. These contrasts deliberately blur the viewer's bearings and reinforce doubts about Sarah's true identity.
The teaser concludes with a meaningful line: «If you can't tell fake from real, is it really fake?» A phrase that perfectly sums up the stakes of this psychological thriller, centered on a woman ready to do anything to become “the real thing”, even if it means losing herself in a lie with no return.
The Art of Sarah will be available on February 13 on Netflix.
