Tempest: Jun Ji-hyun and Kang Dong-won plunge into espionage and terrorism

The new Disney+ original drama, Tempestis already shaping up to be one of the most eagerly awaited films of the fall season. Starring 2 of the most charismatic actors in Korean cinema and TV, Kang Dong-won and Jun Ji-hyunthe political thriller and espionage thriller is finally revealed through a striking poster and a breathtaking trailer.

A charismatic duo at the heart of a geopolitical storm

In Tempest, Jun Ji-hyun plays Moon Jua UN ambassador renowned for her integrity and international influence. Her life is turned upside down when an assassination attempt on a presidential candidate rocks the country. Determined to find out who is behind the attack, she crosses paths with San Ho (Kang Dong-won), a special agent of mysterious origin whose mission is to protect her at all costs.

The 2 characters will find themselves drawn into a worldwide conspiracy which directly threatens the stability of the Korean peninsula... and far beyond.

High-voltage trailer

The trailer kicks off with a dramatic event: a shot fired during a reunification mass. It's amid this chaos that Moon Ju and San Ho meet for the first time. Soon, the stakes go beyond the national level: the presence of scenes in the White House and the alarming words of the American Assistant Secretary of State (John Cho: "A storm is coming") herald a conflict of international proportions.

We also discover Moon Ju ready to launch herself into the presidential election racewhile San Ho, ready to risk his life, becomes his protective shadow. The trailer features spectacular attacks and a climate of extreme tension, punctuated by Moon Ju's voice-over: "Who are you? Why have you come to me?"

An ambitious production with a five-star cast

Directed by Kim Hee-won (Queen of Tears, Vincenzo) and Heo Myung-haeng (The Outlaws 4), Tempest boasts an impressive creative team. The screenplay is by Jung Seo-kyung (Decision to Leave, Little Women), while the artistic direction and soundtrack were entrusted to such industry heavyweights as Kim Byung-han and Dalparan.

On the casting side, the supporting cast also promises to make a lasting impression: Lee Mi-sook, Park Hae-joon, Kim Hae-sook, Yoo Jae-myung and Oh Jung-se complete this prestigious cast.

Release date: an eventful launch on Disney+.

Tempest will be broadcast from September 10, 2025 on Disney+ (to be confirmed internationally), with an exceptional launch of 3 episodes on the day of release. The remaining 6 episodes will be posted online at the rate of 2 per week from September 17for a total of 9 episodes.
