What if behind every legal case was a human story? That's the challenge of JTBC's new drama, Beyond the Barto be discovered from August 2with Lee Jin-uk and Jung Chaeyeon in an unexpected but already promising duo.

A judicial series from a human perspective
In Beyond the Bar, we follow Kang Hyo-min (Jung Chaeyeon), a bright, confident but inexperienced young lawyer. She joins the prestigious Yullim law firm, where she is taken under the wing of the redoubtable Yoon Seok-hoon (Lee Jin-uk), a lawyer as cold as he is efficient. At his side, Hyo-min discovers the behind-the-scenes world where every case is an ordeal, and every plea a battle.
But what this duo lacks in personality, he shares it in depth: sincere attention to their customers' invisible wounds. For Beyond the Bar is not just a series of trials and verbal jousts: it's also an ode to listening and resilience.

When two visions of law collide
The recently unveiled teaser sets the tone: "Every business has a human heart." While Seok Hoon asserts that "to win a case is to be the one who suffers the least", Hyo Min replies that "people think of taking legal action when their pain reaches a breaking point". Two visions, one desire: to defend those who have been shaken by life.
Between tense court scenes, poignant testimonials and unexpected moments of vulnerability (like Seok Hoon comforting a little girl), the series strikes a touching balance between professional rigor and sincere empathy.

An emotional mentor-student dynamic
The relationship between Hyo Min and Seok Hoon evolves over the episodes: the clumsy but determined young lawyer gradually earns her mentor's gratitude. When he finally says a simple "You've done a good job", it's all the human warmth of this series that touches us.
With Beyond the BarJTBC signs a drama that promises as much tension as tenderness, carried by the complicity between Lee Jin Uk and Jung Chaeyeon. Broadcast from August 2, 2025 on jTBC (no international platform planned yet).
