JTBC's next drama, « The Practical Guide to Love« unveils a new teaser that sets the tone for a romantic comedy that is light, lucid and resolutely modern. Han Ji-min plays Lee Ui-young, a woman brilliant in her career but surprisingly new to the world of love.
An accomplished hotel executive, Ui-young is in complete control of her day-to-day professional life. Always elegant, organized and irreproachable, she arouses the admiration of those around her... who are nonetheless astonished by her total lack of a love life. A remark made almost out of clumsiness («I thought you were against relationships, since you never go out with anyone?») brings to light an unexpected discrepancy: behind this apparent assurance, Ui-young remains profoundly awkward when it comes to feelings.
Appointments to ward off loneliness
The teaser then segues into scenes where Ui-young finds herself alone, without a partner, until an abrupt sentence has the effect of an electroshock, suggesting that she could end up «living alone... and dying alone». An idea that acts as a trigger. Suddenly, Ui-young makes a decision as spontaneous as it is determined: «All right, I'll do it. I'll do it! Blind dates!»
From then on, everything accelerated. She threw herself into the world of blind dates, accumulating embarrassing experiences and moments of confusion. Sometimes unsettled by a suitor's direct comments, sometimes completely disarmed by another's charm to the point of squirming nervously on her bed, Ui-young discovers an emotional territory hitherto unknown to her.
Between professional ambition and sentimental quest, the series asks a simple but universal question: can you learn to love the same way you learn a trade? And above all, will Ui-young manage to find a balance between work and love, without losing herself along the way?
