Netflix continues to confirm its position as the must-have platform for K-drama fans. In this month of November, 2 Korean series stand out from the crowd, enjoying impressive international success: Dynamite Kiss and Typhoon Family. Two very different stories, but with one thing in common: they captivate audiences around the world.

Dynamite Kiss: the romantic comedy that surpasses The Witcher

Since its release on Netflix on November 12, the K-drama Dynamite Kiss has immediately won over audiences thanks to its charming cast and plot full of twists and turns. Carried by Jang Ki-yong and Ahn Eun-jin, the drama managed the feat of climbing to 2ᵉ place in the global ranking of most-watched series on Netflix (according to data from FlixPatrol). It even surpassed heavyweights like The Witcher.

The story follows Go Da-rim, a young woman who pretends to be a mother in order to get a job. She crosses paths with Gong Ji-hyeok, a team leader with a troubled past, who falls in love with her. Between unexpected romance, misunderstandings and moving situations, the drama plays with the codes of the genre while injecting a modern touch. The first episodes quickly set the tone: a love story as tender as it is unpredictable, set against a backdrop of good-natured lies and romantic company reunions. Viewers are won over, and so are we, sincewe loved these first 2 episodes, which really make us want to see the rest.

Typhoon Family: a moving plunge into '90s Korea

For its part, Typhoon Family, broadcast on tvN in South Korea and then Netflix worldwide, seduces with its historical and human depth. The drama takes us back to 1997, to the time of the IMF crisis that hit South Korea. Kang Tae-poong, played by Lee Junho, finds his life turned upside down overnight after the death of his father. The inexperienced young man finds himself at the head of a ruined family business.

This moving tale tells of difficult choices, personal sacrifices and bonds that grow stronger in the face of adversity. The series stands out for its faithful '90s settings, heartfelt dialogue and numerous references to cult dramas of the era, subtly slipped into the episode titles.

Typhoon Family doesn't just tell a story: it pays tribute to an entire generation. Visit slow romance between Tae Poong and Oh Mi-seon (played by Kim Min-ha), the solidarity between the company's employees and the characters' resilience in the face of crisis offer an experience that is both poignant and inspiring.

The success of these two K-dramas is not limited to a few positive reviews. With rising audience figures in South Korea and impressive worldwide Netflix rankings, Dynamite Kiss and Typhoon Family have established themselves as the two serious phenomena of the moment. In particular, Typhoon Family achieved 9.6 % audience share according to Nielsen Korea, a remarkable performance for a historical drama broadcast over the weekend, while Dynamite Kiss debuted to a healthy 4.6 % audience share on Korean TV.
