The highly anticipated drama Typhoon Family is set to hit screens on October 11 at 9:20pm (KST) on tvN. With Lee Junho headlining, the series revisits the crisis of 1997, a pivotal period in South Korea's economic history, and promises a realistic yet emotional look at one family's struggles in the face of adversity.
An ambitious son, a discreet but unshakeable father
Lee Junho performs Kang Tae-poongA young man who suddenly finds himself at the head of a cash-strapped trading company, with no money and no employees, at the most critical moment of the Asian financial crisis.
At his side, Sung Dong-il will make a special appearance as Kang Jin-youngTae Poong's father. A hard-working, old-fashioned family man, he built his company with the strength of his hands. Although he struggles to express his feelings, his deep attachment to his son is evident in his constant efforts to protect his family.
With his usual warmth and charismatic presence, Sung Dong-il promises to bring an extra dimension to this portrait of a typical Korean father of the 1990s, torn between rigor, modesty and affection.
A father-son relationship at the heart of the story
The drama will explore generational contrasts between Tae Poong, an ambitious, free-spirited young man, and his father, anchored in hard work and emotional discretion. Typhoon Family has been announced on Netflix in certain countries, but this has yet to be confirmed for France.
