The drama Twelve, expected on August 23promises to be a skilful blend of mythology, action and heroism. And at the heart of the team of 12 angels of the Zodiac : Sung Dong-ilin a role as charismatic as it is essential.

A guardian between two worlds
In TwelveThe fragile peace of the Korean peninsula rests in the hands of twelve angels living in human form. In the past, they confronted and sealed the demonic spirits at the gates of hell, at the cost of great sacrifice. But as these dark forces awaken, a new confrontation becomes inevitable.
Sung Dong-Il embodies Ma RokMa Rok, a human being with extraordinary powers, has been appointed guardian of the angels. Present at their side since ancient times, Ma Rok is their protector, their guide and the one who brings them together. Now a detective in the human world, he watches over their safety in the shadows, while managing the tensions that arise between them.

The director Han Yoon-sun explains that he imagined this character to provide the audience with a human anchor in a dense, mystical tale. "Ma Rok is the one through whom we discover the angels, the one who connects us to their struggle," he explains.
A character between warmth and authority
Sung Dong-Il describes Ma Rok as a man of contrasts, capable of gentleness and empathy, but also of coldness and firmness in the face of danger.. This duality is reflected in the first images of the drama: sometimes a benevolent protector, sometimes a relentless fighter in the face of darkness.
His main weapon? A magic canewhich enables him to deploy protective barriers, ward off spirits and seal off evil. For the action scenes, the actor confides that he had to adapt to the special effects generated in post-production: "We had to imagine the invisible movements of the barriers, which required real coordination with the technical team".
Powerful, symbolic visuals
The recently revealed poster perfectly captures the character's soul. It shows Ma Rok, calm but unyielding, carrying the weight of his mission. The calligraphy features the Chinese character for deer, "Roka nod to its name and the symbol it embodies: quiet strength, rooted in nature.

As for the photos from the episode, they hint at tense confrontations, but also a moment of intense inner rage, revealing that the fight against evil will not only be physical, but also emotional.
With Twelve, MBC (via Disney+) promises an adventure rooted in Asian traditions but told with a modern twist. Beyond mythology, universal themes will be addressed: duty, sacrifice, faith in humanity. Sung Dong-Il, accustomed to striking roles, once again looks set to deliver a memorable performance.
