Netflix prepares a dark and intense thriller for 2026 with « Road« a new detective series adapted from the webtoon Blue Road. Set between Korea and Japan, the drama promises a chilling investigation, supported by a charismatic pair of actors and an atmosphere heavy with tension.
A cross-border investigation into ritualized crime
Road follows 2 investigators, each from a different country, on the trail of a series of particularly violent murders. The bodies found bear disturbing marks, accompanied by enigmatic messages left by the killer. The case soon crosses borders and becomes a race against time, where each clue seems to open up a new layer of mystery.

Son Seok-koo plays the Korean detective at the head of the investigation, confronted with raw violence and shadowy areas that test his certainties. Opposite him, Japanese actor Nagayama Eita plays his counterpart, whose methods and outside perspective add further tension to their collaboration. Together, they must come to terms with cultural, institutional and personal differences, while trying to understand the murderous logic at work.
A solid cast and a director accustomed to dark tales
The series is directed by Han Jun-hee, known for his work on D.P., Coin Locker Girl and franchising Weak Hero. Her style, at once realistic and oppressive, foreshadows a psychological thriller where violence is never gratuitous, but deeply linked to human trauma and vulnerabilities.
Around the main duo, Road also reunites Kim Shin-rok as a Korean-Japanese businesswoman involved in the case, Choi Sung-eun as a government agent assigned to the case, and Jung Jae-young in a key role, described as central and particularly mysterious.
