The chain JTBC has unveiled the very first teaser for its new Friday drama, « Shining« a sensitive series that looks at the deep bonds forged in youth and the way they continue to illuminate a lifetime.
The drama follows the journey of young adults who once shared a world all their own. Over time, they become each other's source of trust... and the guiding light of their existence, even when their paths diverge.
Luminous memories at the age of 19
The teaser first takes us back to the high school years of Yeon Tae-seo (played by Park Jin-young from GOT7) and Mo Eun-ah (played by Kim Min-ju). At the age of 19, their relationship is made up of simple, warm moments: hours spent together in the library, bike rides along country roads in their school uniforms, or a striking scene where they lie side by side in the snow, holding hands.
These images convey the purity and joy of first love, capturing that period when everything seems possible and the other person naturally becomes the center of one's universe.
Separation, waiting... and the hope of reunion
But time passes, and the happy days give way to the loneliness that follows their breakup. The teaser shows Mo Eun-ah, gazing longingly at her reflection in a window, while Yeon Tae-seo wipes her tears like a child, unable to hide her pain. Silent but emotionally-charged scenes that underline the depth of their attachment.
Later, the two former lovers appear running towards each other with determination, embracing in the middle of the street as if the world around them had disappeared. When they finally meet again after a long separation, their greetings are accompanied by a soft, delicate voice-over.
Once the brightest light in each other's lives, Yeon Tae-seo and Mo Eun-ah reunite after years of missing each other. «I wanted to see you at least once», says Mo Eun-ah. A simple sentence, but full of meaning, which raises the central question of the drama: can those who still carry these memories in their hearts become each other's light again?
“The Shining” will begin broadcasting on March 6, à 8:50pm (KST) on JTBC.
