Shin Ye-eun could soon be taking the next step in her career. According to industry sources, the actress is set to star in the upcoming drama « Queen Of The High School »(working title).
Adapted from the webtoon of the same name published on Naver, the story follows Kim Cheong-ha, former queen of the Joseon dynasty and legendary swordswoman, reincarnated in the body of a modern-day high-school student named Park Da-jin. In her new life, she uses her martial skills inherited from the past to confront bullies and deliver a liberating form of justice.
A mix of action and romance between past and present
Studio Dragon had already announced it was working on a drama adaptation of the webtoon, retaining its cathartic action while reinforcing the romantic elements between the eras.
The project should not stop there. In collaboration with CJ ENM, the universe could also be turned into a film or animation, with the ambition of expanding into a full-fledged franchise.
A long-awaited first solo role
Shin Ye-eun is set to take on the challenge of a solo lead role, playing both the formidable Joseon warrior and the contemporary high-school girl.
In recent years, the actress has made a name for herself in a variety of projects, including Revenge of Others, The Glory, The Secret Romantic Guesthouse, Jeongnyeon, Hundred Memories or even Takryu. She is also about to appear in the drama ENA Doctor Somebody.
Having explored different genres, from school drama to action, and won the Best New Actress award at the Blue Dragon Series Awards, Shin Ye-eun confirms her ascension among the talents to watch.
